This is a great book which talks about the life story of a young village man who was born in 60th in China Throughout his story, one can see how the society is changing and how the culture revolution influenced the whole country For me, who was born in the 80th in China, the life at that time is completely different from what I have experience Wish there is an English version so that my friends can also read it.

A perfect book to view what China society looks like in 1970s.As a person who was borned in 1990,I don t have much feelings and knowledge about that Time.Thanks to this book,I had a very deep look in that Time When I read this book,I was lead by the characters emotion, even cried when they cried.Never thought I could finish this full length novel, but after I started,I just got attracted.Believe or not,you can try.

Absolutely phenomenal
A very important novel for my life.
Usually i don t read novels, cause think that is wasting time, but , i read it twice and watched the TV twice, cause i am young too, about 25, and want to make a difference too, just as the role in the novel.
This is the greatest works that I ever read, absolutely, not because it includes so many common people s individual stories that are full of love, confliction and worries, but also reflects the true life and the relation between individuals and the country.From the eye of the leading character Shaoping Sun, we see everything of China of that age.Work like a cow, contribute like the land I love my motherland.
This is going to take me a LONG LONG time.
